Matthew J. Engler
|
Matt Engler has over 15 years experience in the automotive industry, almost exclusively working with major manufacturers. After graduating from college and a brief stint in a research position, he joined Hayden, Inc.'s sales Division working an inside sales desk. In 1993 he took a position as a Sales Engineer for Apollo America Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Idemitsu Kosan, Co., Ltd. Japan's largest marketer of Automotive Lubricants. There he gained valuable experience working within the Japanese business culture and applied it to his management of accounts at Honda, Toyota, Nissan, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Subaru and Kubota. While at Apollo he was responsible for negotiating with partner companies as well as customers and spearheaded development of a nationwide distribution system for Marine Deep Draft Vessel Lubricants.
In 2000 Matt, together with his wife Tricia, founded The Engler Group a manufacturer's Representative firm. His experience at Apollo taught him that successful sales to Japanese transplant manufacturers required an active and open communication channel with Japan. This could only be achieved with an on the ground representative in Japan who was culturally fluent as well as fluent in the language. In the spring of 2004 The Engler Group entered an agreement with Focus Business Produce, Inc. in Saitama, Japan in order to offer manufacturers on both sides of the Pacific an avenue to pursue sales in offshore markets.
Matt graduated from the University of California at San Diego with a degree in Physics and currently lives in Torrance, California with his wife and business partner Tricia and their four children.
